For going on a hundred
years, the Lewis County Historical Society has been
the steward of our County’s rich history, and
through our collections, exhibits, preservation
endeavors, public programs, writings and
publications, and fundraising initiatives, we have
sought to nurture a greater appreciation for both
the history of this area and the ideas, values,
successes and failures that bind us together as a
County and a community.
One the realities of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic
means that we are not able to host our normal events
as they have been hosted in the past. You may not
know it, but typically our annual events fund a
significant portion of our operational budget – and
through community generosity
we receive donations, sponsorship contributions, and
ticket and raffle sales proceeds, which in turn are
used to keep our lights on and our facility staffed.
Sadly, we won’t be able to host many events this
year, at least in person, and these changes will
dramatically reduce the fundraising on which we have
come to depend so significantly.
Make no mistake: we know
the impact of this pandemic has been hard on
everyone financially, but if you can afford to do
so, we would ask:
event sponsors, that you consider giving the same
amount this year that you have in the past, even
though we cannot hold the events as they have been;
concert series season ticket holders, that you
consider making a donation to us in the amount of
your normal season ticket purchases, even though we
will be unable to have in-person musical
performances this season;
regular event ticket buyers or raffle ticket
purchasers, that you consider bidding generously in
our online auction; and/or
Of everyone else, that
you consider making a special donation this year to
the Lewis County Historical Society. And while we
certainly would not turn down a $10,000 donation,
every $10, $20, $50 or $100 donation will help.
We certainly understand
if you cannot do this, but if you can and do, will
we be forever grateful. And remember, donations are
tax deductible to the full extent provided by law.
We cannot thank you enough!
